ASF detected in home pigs in Decrease Saxony, close to the Netherlands – Swine information


The Federal Ministry of Meals and Agriculture (BMEL) experiences that African swine fever (ASF) has been detected in two home pig farms in Decrease Saxony and Brandenburg within the districts of Emsland and Uckermark, respectively.


That is the primary case of ASF in Decrease Saxony, the most important pig-producing space in Germany. The illness has been detected in a farm with 280 sows and 1500 piglets in Emsbüren, roughly 20 km from the Dutch border. In the mean time, how the virus entered into the farm just isn’t but identified. A restriction zone has been established inside a radius of 10 km the place there are 296 pig farms producing 195,000 pigs.


In Brandenburg, ASF has been confirmed in a pig farm with 1,300 ending pigs within the district of Uckermark. That is the fourth outbreak in home pigs on this German state.


On 10 September 2020, a primary case of ASF was confirmed in a wild boar in Germany. In mid-July 2021, the illness was additionally first reported in a pig farm.
